Consultation With Young People

Listening to Young People – The Serene Sparks Promise

At Serene Sparks, we believe that every young person’s voice matters. Your ideas, feelings, and opinions are at the heart of everything we do. We want every young person to feel listened to, respected, and empowered, knowing that what they say can truly shape their care and their future.

We know some young people have had experiences where they felt unheard. At Serene Sparks, we work tirelessly to change that by showing through real actions that your voice leads to real change.

How We Listen and Act

We give young people many ways to share their views so that everyone feels safe and comfortable:

Young People Help Shape Their Home

We believe in giving real choices, not token ones. Young people help make decisions about:

Care Plans and Future Goals

Menu Planning and Food Choices

Activities, Outings, and Holidays

Decorating Bedrooms and Shared Spaces

House Rules and Expectations

Turning Listening into Action

Not everyone wants to speak up in a group, and that’s okay. We adapt to what works best for each young person—whether that’s a quiet chat, writing things down, using pictures, or working with someone they trust.

For those with communication differences, we provide extra support, tools, and time so every young person can express their views in a way that feels right for them.

Turning Listening into Action

Listening only matters if young people can see that what they say makes a difference. That’s why we always:

Act on what young people tell us wherever possible.

Show clearly what has changed because of their ideas and feedback.

Explain honestly and openly when something can’t be done, so they still feel heard and respected.

The Result – Confidence, Independence, and Belonging

By listening and acting, we help young people to develop:

Confidence and Self-worth

Power and Influence

Valued, Respected, and In Control

Independence and Adulthood

At Serene Sparks, we don’t just listen. We act, we care, and we empower young people to shape their own future.
